Congratulations to Emily Davidson of Adirondack Animal Hospital! You’re our Employee of the Month for the month of March! Emily was nominated by her Practice Manager, Lisa, and her Medical Director, Dr. Moger. They write: “Emily has many great examples of bonding with clients, but one, in particular, stands out as above and beyond. It was with a client who recently passed away (Nancy) and her pet cocker, Shai. Nancy thought she had a friend bring Shai into the hospital for boarding since she was going through some health issues. When Nancy called our hospital to check on Shai, we had to call other hospitals in the area to find out where Shai was actually brought. Emily, after speaking to Nancy and contacting the other hospital, went and picked up Shai and brought Shai here per Nancy’s request. On a weekly basis and after hours, Emily spent hours of her own time on the phone letting Nancy know how Shai was doing. After a month or so, when it was looking like Nancy was not doing well, Emily continued to call her and mentioned that we could help in finding a good home for Shai if that was what she would want. Three months later around Thanksgiving, Glens Falls Hospital (people) called to let us know Nancy had passed away and they gave us her friend’s information. After contacting Nancy’s friend, we received the final written wishes, which included bringing Shai to the funeral home to see Nancy one last time. Emily brought Shai to the funeral home to give one last kiss to Nancy and thank goodness that is what Shai did. Emily did all of this on her own time. After all of this, Emily then began the mission of finding a home for Shai. With the help of Dr. Hindson, they found a home with a couple whom just had put their 15-year-old Sheltie down a couple of months prior. Emily dealt with the whole aspect of this as if Shai were her own, constantly thinking… is this what Nancy would have wanted. Shai left the hospital for his new home with a new haircut, a bag of toys, a bunch of new friends here and the whole staff feeling happy with the outcome. Emily is truly a gem! We are so lucky to have her here.”
Awesome job, Emily! Your willingness to care about not only pets but also the people in your community, are why you’re our Employee of the Month!
