As an entrepreneur who spent nearly two decades as a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Ted Sprinkle founded Pet Partners from a unique perspective – he had experienced the opportunities and challenges, inspirations and frustrations that drive a veterinarian and a private practice. He understood that at times, the day to day details of managing a business could take away from the passion of practicing medicine.
With this experience in mind, he created Pet Partners.
“My goal from the beginning was to give practicing veterinarians in the companion animal field a business management alternative that would not dilute their passion for the animal medicine that they love,” said Dr. Sprinkle.
In the last ten years, Dr. Sprinkle has toured more than 500 veterinary hospitals, and has learned that a business’ success isn’t as reliant on the bricks and mortar as it is on the people at the practice. “It’s not about the what, it’s about the who,” he said. “That’s what separates us from other companies who do what we do. We can see the potential in a practice’s people, and we can help them to achieve great results.”
Prior to creating Pet Partners, Dr. Sprinkle was the founder of Healthy Pet Corp., a consolidator and emerging player in the corporate veterinary industry which was acquired by VCA in 2007. He was responsible for much of the vision and creation of the concept behind Healthy Pet. Under his leadership, Healthy Pet acquired 24 practices with total gross revenue close to $30.0 million.
Dr. Sprinkle was a practicing veterinarian for 18 years in the field of equine medicine and surgery. As a pioneer in bringing sophisticated medicine and surgery to companion horses, Dr. Sprinkle developed one of the largest equine veterinary practices in the Eastern United States. Additionally, he has owned, managed and sold three companion animal veterinary practices.
In 1987, Dr. Sprinkle left day-to-day veterinary practice to become CEO and President of Nedlaw Stable, Inc. Nedlaw Stable grew from start up to national prominence as a leading thoroughbred management organization. In that capacity, he led a team that raised and invested over $10.0 million for the purchase, development and racing of thoroughbred horses. He has selected and campaigned numerous stakes winners in the racing world for many sophisticated investors.
Dr. Sprinkle holds a B.S. from Cornell University. He graduated in 1969 from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University with four distinguished awards for excellence in small animal medicine and surgery. He has been a member and officer of many veterinary organizations over the years and served on the Board of Directors of the prestigious American Association of Equine Practitioners and The Society for Theriogenology. He has lectured before many professional and lay associations, including Veterinary Colleges at Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sprinkle is an author of two papers and was awarded a position in the first Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine.
